Truths about Collagen & Biotin.

Biotin and Collagen are great things! Our bodies need them for skin, joint, connective tissue and hair health (not in that order).

2 things:

1) Both should be taken orally as a supplement or consumed as part of our healthy nutrition. Topically these items won't help achieve your goal as they can't be absorbed into the blood stream properly in order to get to their intended areas.

2) Biotin is a vitamin (B7to be exact) and is also found in our protein foods, such as meat. It promotes hair, nail and skin health. Collagen is a protein and is essential for skin elasticity and joint health.

While there are a number of new hair products out there that contain collagen or promote collagen building for the hair, this is not where collagen is used in the body.

I will always promote a healthy, balanced diet to give us our needed nutrition for hair and skin health, but there is also a need occasionally for a good supplement. If you have questions or concerns about your hair and skin health, consult your stylist and your physician, not necessarily in that order.
